  1. Your children are not your children.

    Friday, July 19, 2013

Your children are not your children,
they are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you.
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
for they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their soul,
for their soul belongs in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite and he bends you with his might that his arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the Archer's hand be for gladness,
for even as he loves the arrow that flies,
so he loves also the bow that is stable.

  2. Sugar-laden goodness.

June 24, 2013 - Cyan enjoys his first real snowball (I opted for the clear, coconut) and it proved to be quite a delight.  He refers to them as snowmen and sometimes asks me.. Momma, want a snowman? Ha.

Cyan pooped on the potty again tonight. Progress!

  4. Tent = Cool

I walked into Cyan's room June 23, 2013 and saw him tucked behind the curtain thats actually a blanket tacked to the wall.. Tacky .. playing his laptop.  I knew it was time to build an actual tent for him.  Thanks to Aunt Becca for giving him a great tent building kit for his birthday, equipped with sheets, flashlights, a water bottle, clothes pins, rope and all the goodness one needs to fulfill his/her tentmaking desires!

  5. Pretty much what creative minds do for fun.  At least he protected his eyes. :)  I can't express how much I love this child for being who he is...  I vow never to change the way I choose to parent him for fear that I'd lose out on this raw personality by confining him to structure that I don't believe benefits.  AP all the way!

  6. Staycation splash.

    Thursday, July 4, 2013

A little staycation after vacation consisted of some pool and popsicle time... Thats all.

  7. Summer fun at daycare has included a pajama day, a trike-a-thon for St. Jude, some Trixie the clown activities and face painting, and last but not least this week was the beloved pony rides.  The picture doesn't seem to capture his excitement.. He came home and talked about it so I'm assuming he enjoyed it although I was slightly concerned about the method of travel for the ponies... I saw an old truck, possibly a 1970's ford with what looked like a handmade cage in the bed of the truck.  No trailer.  The two ponies must've walked the plank into and out of the truck bed. Weird.

  8. Modern potty.

Sooo this image was slightly before Cyan made poo-poo on the big boy potty for the first time. 07.01.13 marks the date and 27 months the age. In this case I had fair warning he had been complaining of his belly hurting and his butt hurting :( I had a feeling he may have been having trouble going.  While taking a bath he mentioned having to go to the potty (which has been a reoccurring conversation over the last month but he usually lets me know when it's complete) so I placed him on the toilet and grabbed the iPad mini with his newest wheels on the bus game and he played for a while,10 mins at least.  Suddenly he looked up at me and said he wanted to get down.. He reached toward his bottom a few times so I gathered that he was feeling the urge to go and hadn't ever on a real potty.. Needless to say I reverted his attention back to the iPad and it happened! I kinda doubt he really knew but when I lifted him and he saw he got really exited!! I poo poo in the big potty! Bret and I were ecstatic telling him how proud we were and how awesome he was to use the big boy potty. He got a few yogurt covered blueberries (yum!) as his treat, my baby is growing up... ;) I am one proud Momma.
